Amongst the list of 20 mobile photographers featured at Instagram Jam is André Hermann, @shutter_se7en, the artist behind Hide-and-Seek a Photo Book project. Hiding limited series books featuring his street photography across San Francisco and New York City, @shutter_se7en sets his followers on a treasure hunt posting visual clues on the locations of these books across his various social media networks.  Since the inception of this project, Hide-and-Seek a Photo Book has seen two separate series of signed, limited edition books hidden and successfully found in these cities.

“Aside from challenging people’s perception of photography,” says @shutter_se7en, “I wanted to challenge how people interacted with the physical books and the urban environment.”

From April 12-14, 30 numbered and signed books featuring @shutter_se7en’s street photography will be hidden within the general area of the Instagram Jam exhibition space. Offering clues on the location of each book via Instagram,Twitter, Facebook, Flickr and his blog, @shutter_se7en will encourage guests to embark on this treasure hunt offering a personal and specialized reward.

“Everyone loves a treasure hunt, exploring new places, and seeing new things,” @shutter_se7en remarked. “If I could engage them in the process, and they were successful at finding the book, they would have a photo book embedded with a memory of the adventure they went on to find it, a book that only a small number of people would own. This book would be extremely specialized because no two people’s experiences finding the book would be the same.”

“Don’t let someone else find your book before you do. These are special. 34-pages of tasty candid street goodness. Each book has a little something extra included. You definitely want to find one of these.”

Juxt is proud that one of our own is represented in this awesome exhibition.
