This week we welcome Decim8nday’s co-cr8or @david_baer as guest editor!

This is his original photo…

and here are his selections:

1. @buzz777

2. @cecilyc

3. @jancaru2

I want to thank everyone for particip8ing this week, and digitally shredding my Hipstamatic shot! I enjoyed reading your processes, and seeing the love in the gallery! Decim8nday would be nothing without your contributions. I also really need to thank my co-conspirators with Decim8nday, Suzanne (@_suzanne_) & Bridgette (@bridgettesxo)!

We are coming up on 1 year of Decim8nday this month! 52 weeks of using Kris’ (@movax) terrific app and sharing recent posts shredded with decim8 with each other! As we enter into the 2nd year of the ongoing project, let’s recap my choices for this week’s contributions.I loved all the submissions, but I have to choose 3.  Here they are:

1. @buzz777
Precog1 & Agency combine to bring the big ‘sine wave’ looking swoops with the Agency digital drag wonderfully!

2. @cecilyc
I’m guessing Graboid & Fold4Wrap5 brought this image out, regardless I love it!

3. @jancaru2
Loved the pixelation and the colors rendered, while preserving the subjects in the foreground & background

Stay tuned as we welcome Will Steiner, @computerjones, as guest editor for week 8.

This week we welcome fellow Decim8or @momma2maxh as guest editor!

This is her original photo…

and here are her selections:

1. @rmsherwood

2. @maryjane428

3. @nomadnest

Lanie’s reviews:
I really had a blast as this week’s Decim8nday’s guest editor. Seeing my ugly doll image run through the amazing filter combinations of Decim8  & all the different interpretations was inspiring! Thank you to everyone who contributed this week.I had a tough time choosing so, in the end from the six I had it narrowed down to, my son Max chose the final three!

1. @rmsherwood
This was my first choice, something about the colors, the abstract pattern, what L225 did in the middle and how the ugly dolls are still somewhat represented at the top and bottom, Bravo!

2. @maryjane428
I wanted three different styles images and altho there were others similar from the brainfeed3r filter, the colors and little facial expression on this guy won me over.  Lots of love for this “mouse-fish” as MaryJane called him.  Haha!

3. @nomadnest
This one is just fun! My favorite color is purple and when it’s combined with greens, just sigh. In this image all the ugly dolls are still recognizable and that makes it so whimsical.  Loved it!

The Cr8ors of Decim8nday [ @_suzanne_ and @david_baer ] and I thank you, Lanie, for participating this week – we hope to do it again in the future!

Stay tuned as we welcome David, @david_baer, co-cre8or of the #Decim8nday project as guest editor for week 7.

@Igers_Seattle’s 1st Birthday!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Seattle and the GREAT Pacific Northwest Instagamers crew!

Last Saturday a group of us got together to celebrate Igers Seattle’s 1st year!

The manIgers team had announced that we were having a party but what everyone didn’t know was that we were planning a video!

DJ Sosa a.k.a @taylorswiftgang was there to take photos and videos of our festivities through Olympic Sculpture Park.

We hope you enjoy the video:

We’d like to thank those who attended as well as those who have participated and supported us throughout the year.  We couldn’t have done it without you and we hope to continue to explore the PNW with you!

If  you haven’t joined us yet then what are ya waiting for? ;]

Let’s make this 2nd year as memorable and fun!

Cheers to happy snapping and socializing!

This week we welcome fellow Decim8or @thewhitedove as guest editor!

This is her original photo…

and here are her selections:

1. @computerjones

2. @lotti_k

3. @njskedder_ru

Paloma raves about this week’s selections:

I really enjoyed my time as Decim8nday’s guest editor. To say it was difficult to choose three photos to highlight is a complete understatement. That’s the beauty of Decim8…the beautiful variety of abstractions that can be created with a simple image. Thank you all for participating!

1. @computerjones and his symmetrical image.

I really like the dissecting white lines and the sharpness of the image. Wonderful work!

2. @lotti_k

This creation filled with wonderful square shapes and white space. Minimal and fabulously interesting!

3. @njskedder_ru

There were so many amazing images effected by brainfeeder!!   liked this one especially because of the use of AGENCY on the legs, elongating them and adding to the movement within the image. Really fantastic.

A special mention to everyone who made an effort to participate this week, FUN!

The Cr8ors of Decim8nday [ @_suzanne_ and @david_baer ] and I thank you, Paloma, for participating this week – we hope to do it again in the future!

Stay tuned as we welcome Lanie, @momma2max,  as guest editor for week 6.

Be Mobile: Summer Vibes in Seattle Exhibition

Since We Are Juxt‘s first show in January 2012 at Cafe Zeitgeist, The Darkroom Series, cultivating the local mobile photography community and exposing it to the city’s already great art scene was a mission.  9 months later, 4 other exhibits under our belt, it just made sense to partner with Instagramers Seattle.

On Saturday, September 8th, JUXT and Instagramers Seattle hosted the biggest mobile exhibit in Seattle.  We featured 150 photographs from 150 local photographers.  United by mobile photography and the connective nature of Instagram, the community help show the beauty of our beautiful city, our beautiful surroundings, our beautiful and Great Pacific Northwest.

Photo Credit:  Joe Iano (@j_iano) of Dan (@tehdan) Instagramming the crowd

The event was held at Neptune Coffee in Greenwood, Seattle; a popular place amongst those in and around the neighborhood.  The owner, Dan, employees and community art managers, Kim and Stephan, really provided a great support in playing host.  Not only did they serve with a smile, they also provided the support to a budding arts community.  If you are in Seattle, make sure to come down to Neptune to support them.

We had an incredible turnout and even noticed people leaving and coming back!  People mingled, introduced themselves and shared tips.  200 nametags (and we gave out nametags later in the evening) was handed out and handles of all the local instagramers can be seen inside, outside, and down the street.  The vibe was amazing and everyone was happy!

The show is up until the end of September so if you are in the area, please make sure to check it out.

Also, if you were in attendance, if you were in the show, if this was your first Igers Seattle or Juxt event, PLEASE leave your comment on what you thought of the event.  We would love to hear from you and get ready for our next community wide event.

Read what others had to say:

“It was exciting to see such a diverse group of mobile photographers becoming connected in person, discussing each-other’s work, and sharing perspectives on this new era of democratized photography. Great job by Juxt and IGers_Seattle, it was an amazing turnout!” – Scott Everett aka @scotteverett

“It was such an honor to be selected to exhibit amongst Seattle’s finest mobile photographers and incredibly exciting to attend the opening night.  When I arrived, I couldn’t help but feel a little giddy about the number of people filling Neptune and spilling out onto the sidewalk–all there to experience this unique show.  My next step was to connect with the creative force–Bridgette, Rachel, Jen and Brad–who so carefully selected and then curated the exhibit.  I loved the flow, the color blending, the choice of hanging implements.  Everything about it was fresh and thoughtful.  But my favorite part of the evening was the chance to meet all of the people who make up this supportive and special community of Igers Seattle artists.  Every single person I met was just as lovely and kind in person as they are online.  Compliments and praise were generously offered, new friends were made, and I left walking on air.  Summer Vibes indeed.” – Audra Mulkern aka @poodleheart

“Having just moved a month ago from San Francisco, it was awesome to see the Instagram community just as alive and communal as it is in the app’s birthplace.  While I haven’t been in Seattle long, it’s been fun for me to explore a new city – upon looking at all the photos culled in the exhibit, I was proud to already be able to recognize a lot of the scenes from around Seattle.  All in all, the exhibit was a treat to be a part of, and I had a great time with new and old friends united by the same passion: documenting adventure.” – Laura Lawson aka @lauralawson

This show would not be possible without the sponsorship and support from our friends over at PostalPix.  Their services provided the beautiful images on not just this wall on Neptune but for future events as well as our Food Frenzy and Autography exhibitions.  For your photo prints from your mobile device go PostalPix – and for their FAQ and more about who PP is, click for this article!

HUGE thank you goes out to Dan for hosting us that evening and to the baristas, Kim and Stephen, for getting our orders in quickly and providing great customer service and support.  We couldn’t have done it without you!

A BIG thanks to the organizing committee (Bridgette, Rachel, Jen, Jeff, Darvin, and Brad) for their hard work.

Most importantly the largest most appreciative shoutout goes to the artists and photographers who contributed, participated, and supported this work.

The evening was complete with music from DJ SOSA, @taylorswiftgang.  This is not the first time that Sosa was involved with the local Seattle mobile photography and arts community.  In January, he was a part of the Class Project that filmed the event and provided documentary footage of Juxt’s first mobile photography exhibit, The Darkroom Series – it goes without saying that we really enjoy his music and his artistry.  People were jamming and even the kids wanted a spin at the turntable!

The night was exciting and the energy remained high all evening but in the end it was time to close down the shop.  It was truly a night to remember and we are extremely proud of our community and and are so thankful for the support who you have given us.
